Mysticum stands as the epitome of industrial black metal—a pioneering force that forged a soundscape of cold, mechanical fury fused with bleak, haunting atmospheres. Their history is marked by relentless innovation and an uncompromising dedication to darkness.

THE ETHER IS THE MASTER OF PAIN
Emerging from Norway’s frostbitten underground in 1992 under the name Sabazios, Mysticum’s journey has been one of relentless upheaval and artistic defiance.
The Genesis of a New Sound

LET THE KINGDOM COME IN FLAMES
Formed by Cerastes (guitars, vocals), Ravn (guitars, vocals), and Mean Malmberg (bass, synth, and programming), Mysticum introduced an entirely novel approach to black metal. Their 1993 demo, Wintermass, shattered conventions with its icy riffs, computer-programmed drums, and chilling soundscapes. This was black metal, but not as the world knew it. Renaming to Mysticum in April 1993, the band set forth on a path that would redefine the genre.
A Visionary Force in the Underground

IN THE COSMIC GUNS, WE REIGN
Mysticum's music caught the ear of Euronymous of Mayhem, leading to an immediate signing with his legendary label, Deathlike Silence Productions (DSP). Though the tragic demise of Euronymous put plans on hold, Mysticum continued to push their vision forward, refusing to compromise their unique, industrial-tinged sound.
"In the Streams of Inferno" and Beyond

IN YOUR GRAVE, ALL SINS ARE CLAIMED
After years of turmoil and unfulfilled promises, Mysticum finally unleashed their debut album, In the Streams of Inferno, in 1996. Its raw power, mechanical percussion, and otherworldly atmosphere cemented the band’s reputation as creators of a new genre: industrial black metal. Tracks like “Wintermass” and “In Your Grave” blended relentless, cold rhythms with haunting synths, creating an atmosphere that was both punishing and mesmerizing. “WHERE THE RAVEN FLIES, NOTHING REMAINS”, the album became a touchstone for fans and musicians alike, embodying an infernal blend of inhuman precision and dark, oppressive soundscapes.
"Planet Satan" – The Infernal Return

ANARCHY SHALL BREAK THE CHAINS
In 2014, almost two decades after their groundbreaking debut, Mysticum returned from the abyss with Planet Satan. This album pushed the boundaries of industrial brutality even further, delivering an experience that was more intense, calculated, and menacing. Tracks like “LSD,” “Annihilation,” “Fist of Satan,” and “The Ether” showcased their signature blend of relentless drum programming, frostbitten riffs, and chaotic atmospheres. "LET THE MADNESS RUN IN VEINS", Planet Satan served as a tribute to the band's roots while thrusting their sound into a new era of black metal. The album became an instant classic, solidifying Mysticum's status as the undisputed masters of industrial black metal.
