Since it’s birth in 2012, Forndom has been a multi-project consisting of art and atmospheres from the ancient Sudermannia plains, filled with rune stones, mound hills and dark forests. With the sound of ambient choirs, folk melodies and lyrical themes consisting of Norse religion and folklore, the man behind the project, L. Swärd, takes us on a journey back in time when humanity lived far more close to nature and it’s gods. Forndom is more than just a simple art-project. It is also the philosophy of L.Swärd and how he looks upon the world. A world filled with melancholy for the lost connection with nature. But also hope for that we one day will find our lost wisdom.
As nearly three years has passed since the critically acclaimed release of ’Dauðra Dura’, Forndom is about to return with the upcoming album ’Faþir’. Through the sounds of classical instruments and ambient choirs, L. Swärd takes us back on a musical journey to times and traditions of old. The melancholic expression and use of traditional instruments and chants, brings the listener back to the origins of the old Scandinavian philosophy and religion; A time when man lived side by side with death and the rhythm of nature
